Cheapskate
On the show, Jim Backus played big spender, millionaire Mr. Howell. However, Backus was the extreme opposite in that respect. Everyone knew him to be a total cheapskate. Many stories about the crew going to out for a meal involve Backus accidentally, “forgetting his wallet,” therefore, forcing other Gilligan’s cast members to pay for him. Apparently, he did this so much that the whole cast and crew teased him about this habit.
