Aldi has been able to keep the prices low for a few reasons. One of them would be the fact that they leave the boxes on the shelves. This practice is done to prevent hiring more staff than necessary, which cuts down costs. By doing this, they are capable of offering products at more affordable prices. The time it takes Aldi, staff, to simply open the boxes and lay them out on the shelves is most likely estimated to take even less than had the time it would take another grocery store employee who is unpacking and stacking each item individually. Other grocery stores tend to unwrap and organize each item on the shelves whereas in this instance the boxes are simply opened and designed to be displayed neatly.

This Does Not Make Things Easier For The Employees
It is not always a good thing. Perhaps you also notice that employees occasionally seem very stressed. Since they keep the staff number to a minimum, the workers have more duties but less time to do them. Aldi employees often feel as though they are worn thin, in the sense that they have to do many things in a short period of time. They are more under pressure than your average grocery store worker, with more responsibility and duty Aldi has also provided the necessary and fair compensation. With that said, former employees said that they had great opportunities, benefits, and compensation which is not found at just any wholesale store. There are pros and cons to every situation including this one but another pro is that employees are more likely to move up in rankings as there are fewer.
