Tensions On Set

Moorehead and Sargent did not get along and it made the set very tense. However, it may have actually helped the heated tensions between their characters. According to Bewitched cast and crew members, the two would fight on stage and Moorehead left Sargent in tears numerous times. In the end though, the constant bickering brought them close together. Somehow after all that, the two became lifelong friends.

Show’s Inspiration
Both Bell, Book and Candle and I Married a Witch were two films that the show was based on. Though these films resembled Bewitched, creator Sol Saks did not worry too much that he used those film plot-lines for his Bewitched script pilot. When questioned about the similarities and whether he feared a lawsuit, Sol Saks emphasized that both the movies were owned by Screen Gems and Columbia, which was actually the same company responsible for creating Bewitched.
