While Doing Another Training Exercise
In June 1957, the USS Stickleback left Pearl Harbor to sail off to the coast of Siberia. It returned to Hawaii on July 26th. The next development in its story took place in May of the following year. The sub was doing a routine training exercise, but this turned out to be very different from all the others. But why is that?

Antisubmarine Warfare Training
On May 28th, the Stickleback was part of an antisubmarine warfare training with the USS Silverstein. This happened around the islands of Hawaii and had a third vessel in the form of a torpedo retriever. It had the sub make simulated torpedo runs at the Navy destroyer. They kept at it until the next day.
