After Cayden’s birth back in 2007, Costner and Baumgartner had two more children together. Hayes was born in 2009 and Grace was born in 2010. Costner talked about his life as a father to young children in 2011. He said, “…They’re really good children and I see them making steps every day, and the one thing I pray for in life is not success but being able to raise my children and that nothing happens to me in the next 20 years.”

“I want it to be me who tells them about the secrets, the beauty, the treachery and everything that is in life. I don’t want them to learn from someone else,” Costner explained in a 2011 interview. His wife, meanwhile, was excited to see the actor so committed to raising their little children. It really did appear like Costner was prepared to turn over a new leaf. This is especially true when you consider the stark contrasted it provided to his relationship with his older children.
