Back then, Dan was an 18 year old in his sophomore year of college. Meanwhile, Wendy was 17 years old and a recent high school graduate, looking to study public health. Dan was your average college student. He loved partying and getting to know new people. It didn’t take Dan long to hear about Facebook. During this time, Facebook was this new social network, mainly used by college students for dating. Dan really took a liking to Facebook.

At first, Dan used Facebook for meeting people and gaining friends. One day, he found the profile of a girl named Daphne. The two had mutual friends so he sent her a message. She didn’t reply. Undeterred, Dan simply browsed her friends and found someone named Wendy. He was immediately smitten with her pictures and decided to message her as well. Wendy was a bit wary of talking with strangers online. So, Wendy didn’t reply but spoke with Daphne about the message- who had a thing or two to say about Dan.
