Secret Archives In The Vatican

During the 17th century, Pope Paul V split up the Vatican documents and formed the Vatican Secret Archives. Only qualified researchers can access any of the documents. In total, the archives hold about 85 kilometers of shelvings. Out of all the documents, the oldest is one from the 8th century.

Lascaux Caves

A group of teenagers discovered the Grotte de Lascaux caves in 1940. These caves in Southern France are over 17,500 years old. Now, they’re a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Within the caves, there are over 600 paintings on the ceilings and walls. People visited the caves even after WWII, but soon the tourists increased so rapidly to over 12000 visitors daily that the place was closed down out of fear of contamination. Hopefully, it will reopen soon since scientists are working to figure out a safe number of visitors for future visits.
