Tough Guy
Since Alan Hale was former military, he was known on set for being quite a tough guy. Actually, during one episode he needed to climb a tree. So while filming this, he fell but missed the crew’s soft landing pad they set up and fell onto the concrete floor! Ouch! From this fall, he broke an arm, but never even told people for weeks. When others asked how he did it he did it, Hale responded, “it wasn’t easy.”
