Samira Wiley plays Moira on the show. Samira’s now wife, Lauren Morelli was writing a lesbian love scene for Orange is the New Black when she realized she was gay. Morelli explained the process of coming out in an open letter to the public, writing, “I was so deep in my own self-doubt that I constantly felt like a fraud.
