Even though John Travolta is no Danny Zuko from Grease in real life, he can be called a drop-out. That’s because he left school at just 16 years old to pursue acting. During high school Travolta played basketball and football, but he also always took acting classes in the evenings. Wow, those classes really paid off. However, dropping out of high school might not work for everyone!

Wait, let’s take it all the way back. Did you know Travolta was born in 1954 in New Jersey? He grew up very close to NYC in an Irish/American neighborhood. His father was Italian-American but his mother was Irish-American. His parents raised him and his siblings Catholic. Oh and John was the youngest of six kids! All of his siblings also really enjoyed acting, so he always had plenty of options of people to practice with at home.
