Did you think Travolta just up and quit musicals after Grease? Nope! Once the famous musical Hairspray was made into a movie, he got the role of the mother Edna Turnblad. Surely, you’ve seen him in that dress and kitten heels! What a performance! Anyway, his dance and musical background really helped him prepare. Plus, he needed to wear a 30 pound fat suit for playing Edna. Oh and his makeup took five hours! That honestly sounds worse than wearing the heels.

First TV Appearance
Travolta’s first ever television role was on the show Emergency back in the 70’s. If you never saw this cameo, he was a 16 year old that seriously hurt himself by falling into a canyon. His character had a dislocated shoulder and fractured leg. In addition, the upcoming stars Nick Nolte and Marion Ross acted on that TV show as well.
