It’s always better to be overdressed, especially if you’re a royal. There’s no rule against jeans but for more casual occasions, the women tend to wear trousers with blazers or cardigans. However one etiquette expert said an exception could be “if the duchess is outside walking the dogs for example, then jeans are fine.”
