A Surprising Response
Plucas wasn’t sure what to expect since he had always had a single picture in his mind of hunters since the first incident. The first hunters’ response took him completely by surprise. They agreed that they wouldn’t hunt Emma. They had ‘met’ her and they realized just how special she was to Plucas and that she had gone through a terrifying and traumatic experience when she was just a calf.

But the surprising responses didn’t stop there. A number of the hunters were really touched by the story of Emma and Plucas, and they decided that they would stop hunting moose altogether. It seemed like nothing could get more exciting than that, but there was one more surprise to come.
