Cancelled Netflix Shows That Arent Coming Back

Netflix has cemented itself as one of the online forces to be reckoned with in the world of cable TV and streaming networks. It has maintained its competitive edge while continuously providing new and fresh content. However, Netflix has to come up with hard decisions in the matter of removing some of its movies and television series and shows from its active rosters. The reasons may vary, from poor ratings to natural endings and finales for some of these shows. We have compiled a list of some of these TV shows that were not considered by Netflix for another season.

When some of us first heard about Netflix, we were quite skeptical about how it would work and if it would be better than other streamers or media service providers. But based on its easy-to-use platform and multitude of tv shows and movies, Netflix has made quite a name for itself. It’s incredible to know that Netflix was actually established in 1997, and since then the company has just grown and grown! In 2017 the company had revenue reaching as high as $11.6 billion! It’s also considered the 10th largest internet company based on their revenue!

We all have our favorite tv shows and movies and Netflix. From science fiction series like Stranger Things, to compelling documentaries like Wild Wild Country, from hilarious comedies like Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt to eye-opening drama series like Orange is the New Black, Netflix pretty much has it all. But what happens when Netflix decides to take down shows that we completely fall in love with? Avid Netflix show watchers are up in arms with the latest announcements about which shows will be continuing into the new year, and which will not.

Netflix has not only decided to discontinue with certain shows, but the company has also reduced the number of movies they have on their network. The main focus has been put onto tv shows, creating what we can only call binge-worthy paradises. My, how the times have changed! There used to be a time when we waited from week to week to see what happened next in our favorite tv shows, but not anymore. But what should we do when our shows are completely discontinued? Here’s the list of what we might have to say goodbye to, and it’s not pretty.

The Get Down

The Get Down started to air in August 2016. It is a musical drama set in the early ‘70s in the South Bronx. Most of its fans were shocked and dismayed after learning it got cancelled after just one season. The hip-hop musical was weighed down by huge production delays and a large budgetary requirement, apparently. It was the most expensive television series ever for Netflix as it reached $120 million in production costs. Despite all this, the director of the series is certain that the show’s spirit will surely live on. He also hopes for its revival sometime in the future. In his Facebook post, Baz Luhrman shared how the show has started to have a life of its own. He also said in the same post that “One that lives on today and will continue to be told somewhere, somehow, because of you, the fans and the supporters”.

It tells a story of two friends, the heir Roman Godfrey and newcomer Peter Rumancek as they worked together to shed light on the murders that have stirred up the town’s rumor mill. Its cancellation was not such a big disappointment for fans thanks to the skillful way of steering the storyline to a natural ending. Eli Roth, Hemlock Grove’s Executive Producer said, “We are so grateful to the fans of Hemlock Grove who have championed the series so intensely over two seasons…We are looking forward to taking the last and final season into some dark and unexpected places, and to giving viewers the killer finale you’d come to expect from Hemlock Grove.”
