Honestly, this is kind of funny, despite how bizarre it sounds. Once the show aired, the Coast Guard received letters from people that desperately asked them to rescue the trapped castaways. Somehow, they didn’t realize it was a sitcom. During his interview with the Archive of American Television, creator Schwartz called those viewers delusional and added, “Now who did they think was laughing at what was happening to these people? Where did they think the music came from, and the commercials?”

Now, this lagoon may be familiar to fans not just because they have watched and rewatched episodes of the show and even the three films. No, you may also have seen this lagoon in that classic monster flick, The Creature From the Black Lagoon. Yes, it was in fact the same lagoon as Gilligan’s Island.
