The goal of the project is to locate lost submarines. In fact, it was even named after the 52 subs that sank during the Second World War. The team works on vessels that sank during the Cold War as well. As we now know, the USS Stickleback went down during the conflict between the United States and the Soviet Union.

What The Goal Of The Project Is

On the website of the Lost 52 Project, Taylor and the team said that the goal is to “provide the fullest possible documentation and accounting of these locations for our missing WWII Navy sailors, their families and the nation.” It also makes a record of the vessels that the general public could use as a resource of sorts.
