It Was Converted Under GUPPY
The Stickleback saw a conversion under the Greater Underwater Propulsion Power Program by the U.S. Navy. Also called GUPPY, the program was meant to update submarines from the Second World War so that they could be up to far for operation in the ‘50s. Its conversion took more than ten months. Among other things, the vessel was outfitted with a sonar system, a snorkel, and a better battery.
