Electric Boat Company
The workers at the company had been making subs since 1899. As a matter of fact, it built the very first one for the U.S. Navy: the U.S.S. Holland. During the Great War, the company and its shipyard associates created 85 submarines for the U.S. Navy and the British Royal Navy. It went on to make 74 more submarines during the Second World War. Among its products was the U.S.S. Grayback.

One Of Twelve Tambors
The U.S.S. Grayback was a Tambor. Mind you, they only built twelve of these. Seven of them had been ruined during the course of the war. In 1945, the Tambor subs were decommissioned from combat service. Of course, the Grayback was among those that did not even make it to the end of the war.
