Its Last Radio Message
In fact, the radio message from February 25th had been the last time they heard from the sub. The vessel was expected to reach Midway Atoll on March 7th, 1944. However, it was nowhere in sight on that day. They were alarmed when the sub did not appear even three weeks after that. The authorities did not have any choice but to announce that the vessel and its 80 crewmen had been lost at sea. This was declared on March 30th. What could have possibly happened to the vessel?
