Miley Cyrus spoke with Variety Magazine about her struggle coming out as pansexual to her parents. Cyrus said, “My first relationship in my life was with a chick. I grew up in a very religious Southern family. The universe has always given me the power to know I’ll be OK. Even at that time, when my parents didn’t understand, I just felt that one day they are going to understand.” Now, she’s engaged to Australian actor, Liam Hemsworth, who she met while costarring together in The Last Song.

When Prison Break‘s Wentworth Miller was invited to the 2013 St. Petersburg International Film Festival, he came out in GLAAD, saying, “As a gay man, I must decline.” His statement continued, “I am deeply troubled by the current attitude toward and treatment of gay men and women by the Russian government. The situation is in no way acceptable, and I cannot in good conscience participate in a celebratory occasion hosted by a country where people like myself are being systematically denied their basic right to live and love openly.” He has gone on to join the ranks of LGBTQ celebrities by opening up about his struggles before coming out.
