Although Laura Ingalls moved around quite a bit, Walnut Grove held a lot of significance to her story. That’s where she lived in Minnesota while she was a child. Sorry to break it to you, but Nellie’s adorable curls were not real. Seemed pretty authentic, right? Well, what can we say…wigs are pretty incredible. Anyway, actress Alison Arngrim is a natural blonde, but her thin, fine hair did not exactly hold a curl. That’s why they made her wear a wig. In her autobiography, she spoke about the wig they made her wear as Nellie and how tightly they secured it onto her head. It was so tight it would often cause scalp bleeding. Ouch!
