The poor deer! Usually, wild deer will become very skittish and nervous around people. However, these deer boarded the boat willingly. No, they were not acting sporadically. These deer just collapsed from exhaustion once they got onto the boat.

Tom’s sister Sharon said once they got onto the ship, “they couldn’t stand up on their own…they couldn’t shake the water off their coats.” Sharon also said the deer “didn’t want to touch them, but it was clear they were happy to be there. They probably would have crawled on board if they could have.”
