Obviously, these deer needed help getting out of those freezing Alaskan waters! Satre noted he never saw such distressed deer. He even said the deer were visibly “foaming at the mouth,” and could barely keep their heads above water. Yet, how would Tom and his family get them aboard?

Pulling Them Up
A pro outdoors-man, Tom could tell that the deer must be young because their antlers had barely grown in. In order to pull them onto the boat, he made a lasso out of a rope. Tom then fastened it to each deer’s neck. Then the entire family worked together to pull all four deer onto the back of their boat.
