Soon enough, the boat got close enough to make it out. The family imagined it would be birds or possibly a group of sea lions. Yet, what they came across was not what they expected. They spotted ears…then they got closer, and they realized it was a herd of deer in the water!

The entire boat was completely shocked to see four deer swimming towards them. Thus, they stopped the boat. The four Sitka black-tailed deer swam at them. Tom Satre recalled, “They swam right toward the boat…then, they started to circle the boat. They were looking up and looked like they needed help.”
