Next he found a phone number for animal services and waited impatiently for someone to answer his call. When someone eventually did answer they explained to him that they would not be able to help him until the next day. This meant that Plucas would have to care for this young animal until real help arrived. It scared him.

Not knowing where to start, Plucas figured that the calf would need to eat so he went to get some milk and leaves for her. He also set up a makeshift home for her until Animal Services would take her the next day. But he wasn’t expecting what happened next.
