With all the care that Plucas was giving to Emma, she started to feel safe around him. But it wasn’t just safety that she felt, she also felt a connection. Whenever he left the house she would cry for him to return, and he admits that he too felt a pang of missing whenever she wasn’t around.

Sleeping Arrangements
Since Emma didn’t feel safe anywhere without Plucas, he made a plan that some might think as strange. “She was afraid of everything but me,” said Plucas. Instead of leaving her alone outdoors or in the barn, Plucas started to sleep with her in the barn and sometimes even out in the open to give her a sense of security. But he needed a plan to help her adjust to her surroundings.
