Based on the book by Clive Cussler, this film sadly did not turn out to be a successful film adaptation. Despite having the amazing Penelope Cruz and talented Matthew McConaughey, the film just didn’t have a chance. Another action/adventure movie that flopped. After spending a hefty amount on the production, the movie lost the company $78 to $105 million!

John Carter – Lost $200 Million
Honestly, you probably never saw this film because that’s how poorly it did. However, you probably know both the leads, Taylor Kitsch and Lynn Collins. Also director Andrew Stanton was responsible for Pixar’s Finding Nemo and WALL-E, but sadly, he couldn’t make a hit out of this one. Allegedly, he had some trouble with Disney executives, but that’s besides the point. The film cost $350 million and lost about $200 million.
