Love comes in many shapes and sizes, but when it hits you, it’s undeniable. The mother bear adored her cubs. She was forced to choose between her own life and the lives of her beloved children in a heartbreaking scene. She did what she had to do to save her own skin. The fishermen in this story are likely to have encountered love before coming across these hopeless bear cubs. You don’t always realize who or what you’ve fallen in love with until it’s too late. These cubs may have thought hope was lost, but they may have been saved by newfound love.

A Story Set In Russia
Of course, our story is in Russia! Where else would people be able to communicate so freely with the natural world? On Lake Vygozero, our heroes were fishing. The freshwater lake, which is located in Russia’s northeastern region, can reach temperatures as low as minus four degrees Fahrenheit! The big lake would be extremely dangerous for fishermen if they were dropped in. It’s also fatal for any wildlife that chooses to swim. Something made this mother bear believe she could cross the lake while carrying her cubs. Our best guess is that finding food was impossible. She had no idea that she might not have a family at the end of the day.
