Traffic. Everyone knows that LA is notorious for its heavy traffic. Of course, that kind of traffic can be really noisy. To avoid recording this noise from the nearby highway, whenever the crew needed to shoot lagoon scenes on the CBS LA lot they tried to make it as fast as possible. Thus, they would not capture much of the traffic noise.

Talk about job perks! What motivated Natalie Schafer to do the Gilligan’s Island pilot was the free trip she got to Hawaii! That’s where they filmed the pilot. However, once CBS picked up the show, Schafer and probably others were upset to learn they would be filming in LA.
