Everyone knew Michael Landon from the hit show Bonanza. Since that show was such a hit, Landon often took Bonanza scripts and tweaked them for Little House on the Prairie. So if things felt a bit familiar on Little House on the Prairie, that’s because the storylines got a lot of inspiration from Bonanza.

There’s something really remarkable about the actress Alison Arngrim. Yes, she did a fabulous job as Nellie, but there’s so much more to her story. What you can learn from her audition tale is if you persevere, you will succeed. You probably didn’t know this, but she auditioned several times for different roles. She tried out for both Laura and Mary Ingalls and didn’t get either part. However, when she tried a third time for Nellie, she landed the role!
