Maybe you falsely believed that Michael Landon was sporting his natural brown locks on screen. Nope! This was a professional dye job done by a colorist. Since Michael Landon was so serious about his hair color, he wanted to make sure it looked flawless. Unfortunately, his hair started graying in his 20’s. It was the moment his hair began turning gray that the over-the-counter dye job reflected an odd green/purple tint to it when under sunlight. That’s when Little House on the Prairie producers found a professional for him to help fix his hair.

Generally, Little House on the Prairie told a light story about a family living in Minnesota. However, the show did conquer some pretty taboo themes for its time. Even if it was not politically correct to approach certain subjects, Little House on the Prairie took their chances. You probably recall a wide array of sensational topics they touched upon such as, prejudice, rape, addiction and racism. At the time, no other television show was talking about this things so directly. For its time and even now, Little House on the Prairie was groundbreaking!
