They really had the best intentions and quite the cast from Eddie Murphy and the talented Rosario Dawson to the hilarious John Cleese. However, this comedy sci-fi action film failed to charm audiences and critics. Warner Bros. predicted a success and spent $100 million, only to find the movie grossed just $7 million. Thankfully, these stars have been able to move past this failure and have flourishing careers.

Yes, it’s Tony from Skins, but even with the amazing Nicholas Hoult as Jack, this New Line Cinema film had no chance. The fairytale classic turned family flick was not able to became a beloved version of Jack and the Beanstalk. From the $200 million production costs and more for all the movie promotion, they could not come close to making a profit. Yup, they lost about $125 million.
