47 Ronin – Lost $98 Million

A Samurai film with Keanu Reeves? Sounds like a safe bet as far as movies go right? Well, Universal Pictures was totally wrong with this drama/fantasy film directed by Carl Rinsch. Not only did it flop in America, but it also tanked in Japan and everywhere else in the world. Ouch. Anyway, 47 Ronin (2013) cost about $175 and only made $151 million. Also Variety even reported that this one movie left the production company in the red for that year.

Pan – Lost $130-$150 Million

Another classic children’s story that failed to turn to magic on the screen…Warner Bros.’ Pan sadly did not succeed. This prequel of the Peter Pan story cost between $200 and $275 million. In order to make a profit, they were aiming for more than $400 million from the box office revenue. Well, they only got to $150 million, which meant a loss of somewhere between $130 and $150 million.
