Of course, if you hear Steven Spielberg is directing you automatically think huge blockbuster hit! Well, that certainly was not the case with The BFG. It’s such a shame to see a beloved childhood book fail on screen. Sadly, Roald Dahl’s book did not turn into a hit. Back in 2016 when the film came out they just couldn’t compete. After spending around $140 million, they lost about $100 million for Participant Media, Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment and Disney. Hey, we’re sure Steven Spielberg was able to recover this loss.

How Do You Know – Lost $85-$118 Million
How Do You Know is another romcom yes, but it did star Reese Witherspoon, Paul Rudd, Jack Nicholson and Owen Wilson. As you’re probably well aware by now, A list celebs cannot guarantee a success. The film couldn’t compete with other movies and ended up only making $50 million back even though it cost between $85 and $118 million. Ouch! Yes, the Los Angeles Times even ranked it as one of the biggest box office fails of all time.
