Duck Dynasty Star Shaves His Beard, Is Unrecognizable

Published on 06/27/2019

A&E gave Duck Dynasty, its long-running reality TV show, 11 seasons on the air. When you consider this fact, there is no way one can deny that the program earned a solid fanbase when it was being broadcasted. The show was how we met the Robertsons of Louisiana, a religious family that made it big in the duck business. There might be viewers who thought of them as nothing more than a newer Beverly Hillbillies, but we think the long beards of the guys contributed to the success of the show. When one of the Robertson men opted for a clean-shaven look, it was a complete revelation…

TV Fame

Jase is one of the Robertson boys. He is best known for his bushy beard and clever comments. Even though it is iconic, he told his fans he was about to shave off his giant beard! Many were taken by surprise when they saw the result. As a matter of fact, his wife was also shocked by what she saw. We bet you will also be surprised by his new look.

TV Fame

The Robertson Patriarch

Phil Robertson is the founder of the lucrative duck calling company as well as the Robertson family patriarch. Once a talented football player during his Louisiana Tech days, he was offered a roster spot on a certain NFL team. He opted to prioritize the duck hunting season over the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity presented to him. In 1973, Phil decided to launch a duck call business of his own. It became a big hit, although that was only the start of it all.

Fame By Facial Hair

The men of the Robertson family all grew out their beards and had distinct ones. It went very well with the outdoor southern lifestyle they had. One could even say that the unique feature has become a vital trademark of the business. The beards are, in fact, so popular that it was never a question of whether they will shave it off. That must be why a lot of fans could not believe what Jase told all of his fans.

The Robertson Family

The show is centered on the lives of the tight-knight Robinson family. Phil Robertson and Miss Kay tied the knot when she was only a teenage girl of just 15 years. The lovebirds have four kids together: Alan, Jase, Jep, and Willie. All of them have since started and raised their own families by now, but they have all stayed in the duck-hunting enterprise in their own ways. The grandkids have gone on to become big parts of the show as well. Aside from this, Willie’s kid even took part in Dancing With The Stars at one point. Regardless of how tight they might, we can’t tell how they would feel about Jase though.

Duck Dynasty Dilemma

If you like the show, you likely know all about the Duck Dynasty controversy. Of course, we are talking about the time Phil got interviewed by a magazine and said offensive comments. The show got suspended for a brief amount of time when this happened. There are people who speculate that the show’s ratings started to go down after this. Not long after this happened, the show finished with 11 seasons under its belt. Do you think the end of the TV show has something to do with Jase’s decision?

The Funny And Good-Looking One

Jase Robertson is the second kid of Phil and Miss Kay Robertson. He now works as the COO for the family enterprise. For most fans of Duck Dynasty, he is known as the funniest and best looking of the brothers. What was the reason he decided it was time to say goodbye to his beard?

The Funny And Good-Looking One

The Funny And Good-Looking One

A Good Reason

While all the men in the Roberson family sport long beards, we doubt that anyone can deny that there is something special about the one Jase had. It is one more reason for the shock everyone felt when he let the world know of his plan. Even though it came as a surprise, there is nothing to be angry about. After all, he did this for a rather heroic reason.

A Good Reason

A Good Reason

His Little Girl

Mia, his child, had been born with a cleft palate and lip. This is something that occurs naturally, often as a result of the failure of the top lip to form accordingly and the skull to connect with the top of the mouth while still in utero. This might not be a fatal condition and can be addressed with surgery, although it often causes the child to have speech difficulties.

Support From Fans

Mia underwent the procedure to adjust her cleft palate and lip in 2014. Her parents, Jase and Missy, felt anxious about the surgery their child was about to get. It was a good thing that their fans were there to support them throughout the entire ordeal. We bet this support helped them reach the decision to start their own charity to help other children born with the condition.

The Mia Moo Fund

Jase started to commit to the idea of the foundation that he and Missy were launching as a tribute of sorts to their daughter. They chose the name “Mia Moo Fund” for the organization. How adorable! The organization was not only meant to honor Mia but also to help a cause that was personal to the family.

Setting Their Goals

The two of them knew that they needed a lot of money if they wanted the charity to be a success. Yes, this was the reason Jase pledged to get rid of his beard. By doing so, he hoped people will pay attention to their fundraising campaign. Of course, Missy was also thrilled by the prospect of seeing her husband without a beard after seven long years. Jase promised that he would shave the beard off if they get to a hundred thousand dollars I donations. Back then, he did not know if it was going to work.

Beardless Robertson Brother

While it is true that nearly all the men in the Robertson family sported facial hair, there was a single exception to this rule. Al, the eldest of the brothers, kept his face clean-shaven when the show was on the air. Jase himself trimmed his beard a number of times before, but he mostly trimmed it between taping so it would be regular-length when the time came. He has not been cleanshaven in seven years.

People With No Beards

The loyal viewers of Duck Dynasty were in disbelief when they heard about what Jase was planning to do. Another reason for this was the contradictory statement he once said on the show. The same man once told everyone, “There are two kinds of people without beards, children and women, I am neither.” He made the comment in good fun, although we doubt that this was a laughing matter for him.

Desire To Be Anonymous

This is not the first time the Duck Dynasty star talked about getting rid of his distinctive facial hair. In 2013, Jase expressed his thoughts about shaving it off after the show’s finale during an interview. That time, he did not plan to do it for charity. Instead, he desired it for the anonymity it would bring him. Anywhere he went, fans approached him for photos. He must have thought it would prevent that from happening.

Time To Say Goodbye

While there is no way we can deny that he had noble intentions for shaving the beard, no one can blame him for having second thoughts. Jase seemed to get cold feet at one point, but this was understandable as it was a big change. Moreover, long beards are ideal for duck hunters to have since it made them blend into the surroundings. After weighing the pros and cons, he decided that his priorities lie in the charity and the advocacy more than anything else. Good on you, Jase!

Problems Came With It

We already told you that the beard is useful when duck hunting, but it is not all fun and games. In fact, there was a time when he was given an additional mandatory search while he was at the airport. His beard was extra long at the time because it was the end of duck hunting season.

Mistaken For A Caveman

He underwent a thorough inspection at the hands of the airport personnel. After that, he was approached by a fan who wanted an autograph. Jase signed one for the kid and talked to the young boy. However, he soon realized that this was not a fan of the show! No, the child believed Jase was a Geico caveman. While it was funny, could it have been the last straw for him?

Thanks To The Beard

Jase, together with his long beard, is an important part of the family enterprise. He has managed to boost his net worth to $10 million thanks to all his hard work and dedication! Even though he has the means to retire as soon as he wants, he wanted to help out people in need.

After The Show

With the cancellation of Duck Dynasty, Jase started to spend a lot of time around the people he loves. He launched “CamoFix”, a website that serves as his platform to let fans know what is happening with everyone now that the show was over. Aside from that, he has made appearances at various Christian events to show them his support. Now that he is no longer locked onto a filming schedule, Jase decided to take this opportunity and work on something that is important to him.

Making The Announcement

Jase made the announcement that he was shaving the beard sometime in June. He did this by going on the Fox morning show with his wife to let the whole world know about the Big Shave. Many fans could not believe that this was actually happening. Apparently, there was already a date set for it: September 4. Jase even talked to his barber about it already. We think it’s funny that Missy could not even remember what he used to look like before he grew out his beard. Of course, it was the talk of the town for Duck Dynasty fans. What was the television star going to look like without it?

A New Look

Jase knew that this moment was going to cause a lot of excitement among the supporters of the show. That is the very reason they went on Facebook live to document the event. While he sat in the barber chair, Missy took over and caught everything on camera. His friend then went to work, shaved his beard off, and fixed his hair so it would look good with his new look. How did the family feel about it?

It was not unexpected, but everyone still could not believe how different Jase looked now that the beard was gone! With his clean-cut appearance, everyone saw how different he and his brothers looked. While people were happy with his new look, Missy was the one most thrilled about it. If you ask her, Jase now looked like an entirely different person. However, she liked it a lot. In fact, she told her Twitter followers she was flirting with her husband more often nowadays. Well, who can blame her after the makeover?

Growing It Back

While people knew that there was a strong likelihood that he would grow his bead back, they still took some time to appreciate his cleanshaven face. Although it meant that hunting would be more difficult, the way Missy reacted probably made it worth it. Not only that, but he was also able to make an impressive amount of money for the foundation! His family took pride in the efforts he made.

Mischievous Little Kids

There was a time when Willie was interviewed. He said they were raised “rough and tough…it created us to be independent and real confident.” Even so, we doubt that they had any clue whatsoever that they would be part of a multimillion duck hunting company in the future. They were just kids, after all.

Back In The Day

Jase did not have such high hopes for the show when it was only starting out. He stated, “We grew up real poor. There were four boys and my parents in a two-bedroom house. So I cannot believe this.” All of the boys had been sporting the cleanshaven look when this was taken. Ah, youth!

In yet another interview, Willie got the chance to express his views on family and marriage. Here’s what he said: “Our marriage has been tested: tons of kids, growing businesses and working with family on both sides. And it’s withstood all that. You either melt and crash or you become strong. We’re strong.” Don’t you just love this photo of the family having some fun in the sun? We sure do!

Making A Killing

Phil is the Robertson family patriarch. As we have mentioned earlier, he did not only do well in duck hunting, but he also killed it on the field. As a young athlete, he sure looked like a completely different person. Considering his current net worth and success, we are sure he does not regret his decision!

This is what she had to say about the terrible loss: “This past week one of my cousins, Glenn Durham, lost his battle with cancer and gained his heavenly reward.” We are glad the Robertsons were around to give her the support she needed.
