Calming The Mighty Beast
Bringing one of the world’s most dangerous animals to a small fishing boat is not a safe activity. Even though he was exhausted, the first bear cub was quick to act once aboard the ship. If he saw the fishermen as a threat, there’s no doubt he’d find the energy to defend himself. To calm the bears, the fishermen used an age-old technique that you may recall from your childhood. They spoke to the animals in a soothing tone, assuring them that there was no danger on board, only a safe haven. The bear realized what was going on, but he gradually lost energy and grew heavier.

Lifting As Hard As They Could
How difficult was the task these fishermen had to complete? A full-grown bear can weigh up to 1,700 pounds. A baby’s weight can be as low as one pound. These cubs were stuck in the middle of nowhere, and their fur was wet. The brave fishermen who risked their lives to save these cubs certainly put their endurance to the test! That didn’t stop them from rescuing the cubs, though. They hissed the first bear with all of their strength.
